Who we are

Obaatanpa Foundation is a company limited by guarantee registered in Ghana, registration number CG-000000000, with its registered office at 00 Street Name, Accra. For the purposes of the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), we are the data controller for the information described in this notice.

What we collect

If you support us: your name, email address, phone number, postal address where you give one, the amounts and dates of your gifts, and any correspondence between us.

If you receive support from a programme: your name, contact details, household composition, and the information needed to run the programme you are enrolled in — for the safe-birth programme this includes health information, which the Act treats as special personal data and which we hold under stricter controls.

If you visit this website: your browser sends an IP address and basic technical information to our hosting provider as part of ordinary web traffic. We do not run advertising trackers.

If you apply to work or volunteer with us: the information in your application, references, and the results of any background check required by our safeguarding policy.

Why we use it

• To run the programmes people are enrolled in, and to follow up afterwards.
• To process donations, thank donors, and keep the accounting records the law requires.
• To send updates to people who have asked for them.
• To meet our obligations to regulators, auditors and funders.
• To keep children and vulnerable adults safe, which occasionally means sharing information without consent where there is a risk of harm.

We rely on your consent for marketing messages, on the performance of our commitments to you for programme delivery, and on our legal obligations for financial and safeguarding records.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent or exchange personal information with anyone, and we never share supporter lists with other organisations.

We do share information with: our bank and payment providers, so gifts can be processed; our auditors, so accounts can be checked; the clinics and schools delivering programmes, limited to what they need to deliver them; and government authorities where the law requires it, including where a child is at risk.

How long we keep it

• Donation records: [six] years after the last gift, to satisfy accounting and tax requirements.
• Programme records: for the duration of enrolment and [seven] years afterwards.
• Safeguarding records: as long as our safeguarding policy requires, which may be considerably longer.
• Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe, then we keep a record of the unsubscribe so we do not contact you again by mistake.

Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act you may ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it where we have no continuing reason to keep it, stop using it for a particular purpose, or stop contacting you entirely. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Write to privacy@obaatanpafoundation.org. We will respond within [30] days, and we will not charge you for a first request.

Photographs and stories

We photograph and write about the people we work with only with their informed consent, given in a language they speak, and explained in terms of where the image will appear and for how long. Consent can be withdrawn later; if you appear on this site and want the image removed, tell us and we will take it down.

For anyone under 18, we obtain consent from a parent or guardian and, separately, the agreement of the child. We do not publish a child's full name alongside their photograph, and we do not publish anything that would identify a child's home or school.

Cookies

As built, this website sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics or advertising trackers. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as part of that request.

Complaints

If you think we have handled your information badly, tell us first at privacy@obaatanpafoundation.org and we will investigate. You may also complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.
