A foundation named for a standard.

Obaatanpa means the Good Mother. She provides, she protects, and she does not count the cost. We took the name so that anyone could hold us to it.

Who we are

Obaatanpa Foundation is a community-based non-profit organisation founded in the Wassa Amenfi East Municipality, with a deep commitment to empowering women and the girl child. The name Obaatanpa means “Good Mother” in Akan, and it carries our core belief: when you empower a mother, you empower a whole generation.

Vision and mission

Our vision. A society where no woman or girl is left behind — where mothers, adolescent girls, the aged, and persons with disabilities live empowered lives in an all-inclusive Wassa Amenfi East.

Our mission. Obaatanpa Foundation exists to uplift vulnerable groups through compassionate outreach, provision of sanitary materials, food, medical care, tools and equipment, and sustained advocacy for gender responsiveness, equity and equality.

Why this work is needed

Many women, adolescent girls, the aged and persons with disabilities in this municipality lack access to basic sanitary materials, healthcare, economic tools, and information about their rights. The consequences compound: girls drop out of school, health deteriorates, households stay economically dependent, and gender inequality persists into the next generation.

At Obaatanpa Foundation we do not just give handouts. We nurture strength and empower futures, and we believe in an all-inclusive society where no one is left behind.

What we stand on.

Five values. We would rather be held to these than to a slogan.

Compassion

Just like an Obaatanpa, we care for all.

Inclusiveness

No one is left behind.

Integrity

We do what we say.

Empowerment

We give tools, not just handouts and lip service.

Equity

Fairness for all genders and capabilities.

What we do.

Four areas of work across the Wassa Amenfi East Municipality, each chosen because someone in the community asked for it.

Health & Dignity
